way back when Thrasher was on newsprint…there was a picture of a ditch named Junior’s in a SouthEast article. it said it was in Athens. turns out it was in Augusta or something.
but that didn’t stop us from finding a ditch, and naming it Junior’s.
it endured the punk rock spray painters of the 80’s.
the no parking signs still line the roadway.
we skated it on and off for years.

weeds grew into the ditch…except on the edges I ground clean.

wezel brought out the weedeaters and stuff and got-R-done.
as the UGA grew on the east side…so did the sewage stank.
soon, it became unbearable to drive by, much less stop and skate.
here’s a Junior’s Ditch video from 2003.

“I’m just obsessed with the ride. Snowboarding allowed me to be the skater I couldn’t be, and skateboarding made me feel not so fragile when I surfed.”-Mike Rowe of Hooked Surfboards, Southern Shores NC…from an ESM article.

The community and TNT Skateboarding have suffered a great loss
today due to a fire at the skatepark on the morning of 1/23/10. Our
upcoming fundraiser event is now more important than ever to save our
community’s skatepark.
Please stay tuned for updates and plans to

patio’s history.
Friday nights in the early 80’s were often spent hanging out at the skating rink, listening to The Sugar Hill Gang.
Friday nights in the 90’s were a good time for a little 40Watt retro-disco, getting down to The Sugar Hill Gang.
my first Friday night in 2010 was spent hanging out at a skateramp, dialing my inverts and listening to The Sugar Hill Gang.

Down here in Palm Beach County, My Christmas morning weather is 80 degrees…76 in the ocean. There’s been a strong SouthEast windchop, chest-shoulder high…but today, the wind is turning offshore, and there should be a nice long-period North groundswell coming along. woohoo is correct, my friend.

this 7-ply deck is made of 9 pieces. the bottom sheet is 2 pieces, and there’s a middle 2-pc ply that’s half blue wood and half regular wood.

I find the use of recycled wood scraps and then coating the deck with so much pretty paint it looks like an M&M…well, it’s LAME. There’s some lower-cost decks using recycled wood scraps, but to do it on a high price deck, (I think) is being deceptive.
On the other hand, this deck continues to get ridden hard, and hasn’t broken yet…so the puzzle-pieced board is okay???
