just about every afternoon, the “international community” of Athens has their soccer league tournaments at Bishop Park. Go check it out…these are serious competitions amongst dozens of players…enjoying the freedom to meet at a public park and enjoy their favorite activity. It’s pretty cool…
somehow, they’re referred to as “pickup games”.
at Memorial Park, as you go to see the baby bears in the zoo…you’ll pass the basketball courts, where dozens of B-ballers meet up and play a tough game of hoops. I don’t see parents dropping their kids off to join in the games…heh heh heh.
these are referred to as “pickup games”. sounds safe enough, yeah?
at southeast park, if a group of skateboarders wants to meet up and ride skateboards at the skateboard park…they’re being referred to as “renegade events”. (unless they seek permission and have “event insurance”?)
I guess you can’t have a “pickup game” of skateboarding.
pretty cool, ACC seems to be trying to keep the act of skateboarding a “bad boy” activity.
renegades….PUH-LEEEEEZE!!!
