so I was always wondering where they came up with calling them things trucks.
I was just reading some fancy technical data about trains…and I found out that Locomotives have used the term “trucks” for a long time. The trucks are the assembly under the train that hold the wheels on…they also provide the support, suspension and turning ability of the train.
so did someone compare a skateboard to a train car…or did the term originate elsewhere?
hmmmmm…sounds like a mystery for those meddling kids.

click HERE for link to Cataloochee with daily updated conditions, “live” SnowCam, etc. If you go up there on a regular basis, season pass prices are still good.
the Southeast Snow season generally runs from Thanksgiving-march. Lately, with the snowboard population increasing, the resorts are trying to open earlier, and close later in the season…since the snowboarders ride whatever snow there is. I’ll get up there when there’s coverage to 3/4 way…
Cataloochee Ski Area is the closest Ski Area to N.E. Georgia…in Maggie Valley, NC…3hrs from Athens. Other NC resorts are 4hrs+ driving from Athens…I’d rather stop sooner and slide more!
oh yeah…don’t forget to check your bindings and see if they need fixing, make sure your pet ferret didn’t sleep in your boots and shred the insole…and if you need stuff like boots/bindings, places tend to have “last years models” on closeout right about now. Get your board a fresh coat of wax, shiny edges and ready to shred. No reason NOT to have it ride fast as a brand new sled…every time!

Standard time returns this weekend, so don’t forget to set your clock back an hour before turning in Saturday night. Clocks shift back to standard time at 2 a.m. Sunday, local time, giving most people an extra hour of sleep Saturday night — except in Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, which do not observe daylight saving time.

another rain date makeup…
October 6th, 2009 — ALL POSTS
the county is doing a rain date for their skate classes. skatepark closed to the public 4-6.
YEAH…I KNOW…kinda’ late notice.
but I just found out at 4:00…when I showed up to skate!!!
me and a few friends had made special plans with our work/home/family lives…In order to get together and have a little skate session. After all, since ACC has shut down our sunday morning fun, we gotta get together sometime…RIGHT?
wrong.
man, I’ve ONLY been spending like ALL DAY looking froward to skating with my friends…and from the looks of all the after school skaters rollin’up at 4, I was not alone.
skatepark closed to public 4-6. the Moose out front shoulda’ told’ya.
and so I thought…”well, if it’s a beginner skater class…they certainly won’t be skating the deep end…and the deep end is seperate from the little bowl, so it’d be a safe bet…”
I mean, they could erect a barricade across the deep end opening, put some orange cones on the waterfall, safety tape…whatever. COME ON!!! let skaters skate the skatepark. USE IT BABY, that’s what it’s there for!!!
about then I heard “THE MAN” telling seth, “nope…not even the deep end. the skatepark’s closed to the public.”
the moose out front shoulda’ told’ya.
