Hey y’all, this is what REAL is all about. If the city won’t help, you gotta help yourself!
If you have an extra ramp, wood, or ramp-building skills, PLEASE…come on down to Commerce
on January 26th, and help these kids build their skatepark! FREE LUNCH!
do something good for people.
thanks,
Patio

My name is C.J. Peyton and I’m unfortunately from Commerce. What
little bit of progress we had towards getting a skatepark (or at least a
decent spot to skate without being hassled) has come to a complete
halt. Absolutely nothing at the “skatepark” is left skateable. This is a
shame considering most of the kids like me in this community can’t drive
out of town everytime we wanna skate.
This is why I’ve decided to take things into my own hands and plan
something. We’ve decided that on January 26th, starting at 9 a.m. and
lasting as long as people are willing to work, we are going to try to
get some ramps built and donated. We’ve got a sort-of sponsorship by the
hardware store next to the skate lot. They have agreed to give us wood
and other supplies as needed. A free BBQ lunch will be provided to
everyone too.
This really is our last ditch effort to get something done for
these kids. We’ve realized that if our city was willing to do anything for
us, it would have at least been planned by now. So if you we want
something done, we have to do it ourselves. I would muchly appreciate it if
you could post a bulletin on the Georgia Skater website home page
explaining our situation and encouraging people to help out. Any ramps and
wood people are willing to donate is appreciated, and every little bit
of elbow grease we can get will help. If our brothers in skateboarding
won’t help us out, who will? Nobody I tell you. Nobody.
Thanks for your time,
C.J. Peyton
